D.O. Cariñena

Expressions of the same region

The Cariñena PDO covers wines that share the same origin and find different ways of expressing it. Each category responds to defined criteria and a way of working the region.

Red wines

Structure, freshness and depth

Garnacha and Cariñena occupy a central place in the designation. From young wines to aged wines, reds are an essential part of the DO’s identity.

Rosé wines

Balance and aromatic expression

Made mainly from Garnacha Tinta, they maintain freshness, precision and varietal character.

White wines

Freshness and definition

Macabeo, Garnacha Blanca and other varieties complete the diversity of the DO, providing clean and balanced profiles.

Garnacha in the Cariñena PDO

Key variety of the region

A significant part of the vineyards in the Cariñena PDO is dedicated to Garnacha. Its adaptation to the climate of the middle Ebro Valley and to the diversity of soils makes it one of the most distinctive expressions of the region.

Found in red, rosé and white wines, it represents both identity and the capacity to evolve.

The PDO promotes the Garnacha Nueva de Cariñena project, aimed at producing wines with lower alcohol content while maintaining balance and varietal expression.

Garnacha Nueva de Cariñena
A natural evolution from the region.

Garnacha Nueva de Cariñena is a joint project aimed at exploring new wine-making approaches based on this variety. With an alcohol content of 11%, it maintains identity and balance.

A collective undertaking

Promoted by the Cariñena PDO and developed together with several of its wineries, Garnacha Nueva de Cariñena responds to a natural evolution of the knowledge accumulated in the region. It is not about altering the variety, but rather about interpreting it through new wine-making practices adapted to the current context.
The aim is to offer a contemporary expression of Garnacha, adapted to new forms of consumption, without disassociating itself from its origin.

Light and consistent

With an approximate alcohol content of 11%, these wines maintain varietal expression, freshness and aromatic clarity.
